Myrna’s Journey
IMMIGRATION
Came to USA from Mexico in 1990
Coming to America was an adventure from day one. Yes it was a bit scary not knowing the English language, but at the same time exciting for I knew the USA held a better life for me. To this day I remember so well my nervousness at the boarder crossing for the first time because my fear was the language.
Texas welcomed me with open arms with a job waiting. It was with great delight I felt the sunshine on my skin making the outside of my body match the warm glow inside that was growing stronger every day.
The blessings really came into my life when I moved to Michigan in 1991. My first Hijo, Nieves, was born in 1994, and the second son, Chase, in 1997. Also it was here that I got my first good paying job with the Lear Corp.
CELEBRATION
Became a Citizen in 2008
It seemed like the right thing to do. Living a country that has been so good to me and given me opportunities to grow as a person and as a mother. English now has become natural for me to speak and understand. I not just for a better life for myself, I now realized the time has come for me to unite with America and continue to do my part so that others may come as well.
DEVASTATION
It was shortly after Christo had his first Colonoscopy that I felt the need to have mine early, and good thing. It was there that the my life began to enter a dark period. First the colon, then shortly thereafter came the news of Breast Cancer. Meeting with the wonderful team of doctors at Spectrum Health and hearing all they had to say, it was better to remove the Ovaries too as the chance for cancer to spread there was too high.
Hard, hard, hard were the months dealing with it. The misery only served to strengthen my love for Almighty God and for Christo who was patient and caring through the whole ordeal.
Diagnosed with Colon Cancer November 2017
Diagnosed with Breast Cancer March 2018
Ovaries removed December 2018
JUBILATION
I’m alive and give the glory to God!
HOPE is what I have and JOY in abundance over passing this phase of my life. I choose to not live in fear of cancers return, but to press forward singing the praise of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It will not set well with some and I make no apologies
Im proud to be a Legal Immigrant from Mexico who is now a USA Citizen. I’m excited to see this business succeed to the glory of God!
Now together both Christo and Myrna are working on CM Vintage Treasures with the goal in mind of paying off debts as doctors do not work for free and surgeries even with insurance are expensive.
Christo’s Journey…Born in Motown where I grew up in a family where going to flea markets, antique shows, and sales were a normal part of life. Out of necessity the time has come to turn a lifestyle and passion into a business.
Together…Life’s Journey is the best it’s ever been. We truly love one another…and God continues to bless us in visible ways.
To those who wish to help us in this part of our journey, please contact us. Donations of vintage items or antiques (or for sale cheap) are always greatly appreciated. A huge thank you to those who have already donated or purchased from us.
